Further Afield

By the standards of some of my contemporaries, my travels abroad have been relatively modest, and in part this is because my carbon footprint troubles me, even without taking flights into account. Yet travel can be a hugely enriching personal experience, and the ‘shock of the new’ can undoubtedly be a stimulus for creativity. Although there are landscapes from quite a few countries included here, it is those from the USA that dominate, as this is where I have travelled the most in recent years. The desert south west is a land like no other, and it attracts photographers from all over the world, as well as all over America. Yet whether at well-known viewpoints in Yosemite or Utah, or looking into the depths of a small aspen grove in Colorado, the beauty and wonder of the region remains as strong as ever.
